BACKGROUND
Ohio Fight Club has been around since 1983 in the form of Do Jung Ishu (Art of Fighting). Founded by Fred Karimian at the Ohio State University, the club has always emphasized practical, intense fighting skills based on the style and skills of the individual. In the early 90's, Ricardo Wilson, Fred's assistant, became head coach of the club. Do Jung Ishu left OSU in 2004, becoming Ohio Fight Club and finding its way to downtown Columbus.
Coach Bios :
Ricardo Wilson
With the club since the mid-80's, Ricardo (as he prefers to be called - no sensei or sir) has fostered many students with his incredible knowledge of martial arts and his ability to provide just the right advice. He also has a background in fitness and personal training.
Mehran Habibi
An accomplished martial artist even before joining OFC, Mehran only improved upon his judo, tae kwon do, boxing knowledge with the addition of hard-hitting OFC skills. When he's not running his students like dogs or training abroad in faraway places like Texas and Japan, he can be found behind the scenes helping to grow and support the club.
Donn Costello
Donn has been with the club for over eight years and now shows students how to hit stuff really hard, over and over. When not teaching, he can be found hitting people with fists like hammers.
Justin
A skilled grappler of eight years experience and numerous MMA bouts, Justin rounds out the coaching roster: he demonstrates how to dump people on the concrete and, perhaps more importantly, how to avoid getting dumped on said concrete.
Mitch Potterf, NASM-PES
"Do work," is Mitch's personal motto, an entreaty often heard during his fitness classes. He has an AAS from CSCC Sport & Fitness Management, a BS from Ohio University's Recreation Management department, and fifteen years experience in the sports and fitness industry.
Matt Nuspl
Matt has been associated with club since 1992; he also has experience in San Shou kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Krav Maga. His classes emphasize the application of the fundamentals - how to hit people while not getting hit.
